Children from Colegio Iparm are interacting with technology. Through a project called Pizarra Digital Interactiva (Interactive Digital whiteboard) children develop their abilities in different areas and improve their concentration.

This is an idea generated by teacher Rubén González, a teacher in first A Grade, who developed the project. Mathematics, language, science and social sciences are some of the subjects taught using this tool created to catch children"s attention. Children not only listen to the teacher, but also interact and become an active part in class.

"Europe has a lot of experience on this field. Now, in Colombia, I am trying to innovate with the use of this new technology. Due to the lack of recourses, we could not buy one of those whiteboards developed by U.S companies, so I had to do it by myself. I did some research and got the technology on internet to get a digital whiteboard on a cheap price," said teacher Gonzáles.

Children, in classes such as language, can choose their own characters and create stories stimulating their creativity. "Sometimes, the teacher tells us to make stories. At the end of the class, we can write what we have learned" said Juan Esteban Campos, a student in First A.

In math class, children do the exercises with a slate on the desk and then they go to the digital whiteboard to put knowledge into practice. "I have learned a lot" said student Mariana Guasca.

This project is part of the thesis teacher González is writing for his Master in Education studies. Results so far are very satisfactory. "Children are really interested. Concentration levels are very good. They are motivated and that makes learning easier, simpler and very natural. Children learn and we don"t need to be worried about their performance" said the teacher.

Student"s concentration and enthusiasm in class is evident. They pay attention, participate and use technology, because "these children were born within technology, so they feel attracted to it," said González.
